DESIGN FOR A BETTER TOMORROW
ANTICIPATE. INNOVATE. CAPTIVATE

ABOUT THE AWARD

LEXUS DESIGN AWARD calls upon young creative talent around the world to “Design for a Better Tomorrow”. Since 2013, this international design competition has provided the chance of a lifetime for up-and-coming designers to win the prestigious award for innovative design excellence. Winners will be funded to build their prototypes with world-class mentors, and reach unparalleled exposure to the global design community and media.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Imagine a world where design creates an enriched sense of happiness for all.

Start by thoughtfully considering people in diverse circumstances.
Then, anticipating global challenges facing future society, engage in innovative ways which contribute to a sustainable future, yet seamlessly enhance the happiness of everyone.

When imaginative and captivating designs intersect with thoughtful solutions, that lead to a brighter future for all, design truly makes for a brighter future for people and society.

2023 KEY VISUAL

This key visual shows the distinct journeys of the award winners and the paths they will take in the future.

The processes and emotions that a designer experiences are full of ups, downs, encounters, and crossroads.
The process of growth through mentoring is never monotonous and leads in various directions. The diverse stories of each individual vary, and the asymmetrical and graphical shape of the design conveys these different parts.

2023 WINNER TROPHY

The Winner trophy was designed by Hideki Yoshimoto. Yoshimoto was the winner in the first LEXUS DESIGN AWARD in 2013 and has become a successful designer based in London working with a number of global brands. The trophy design incorporates his engineering background and commitment to takumi craftsmanship.
