Introducing the LF-Z Electrified, a concept battery electric vehicle (BEV) that incorporates driving performance, styling, and technologies envisioned for realization by 2025.
Dynamism, feel, and the connection established between driver and machine are intensified through the optimal placement of the battery and electric motors, as well as, among others, a new four-wheel driving force control technology known as “Direct4” that generates superior and highly flexible driving performance.
The cockpit was designed based on the new concept of "Tazuna", the Japanese word for “rein”. Inspired by the relationship between horse and rider, who communicate through a single rein, steering wheel-mounted switches and the vehicle’s head-up display have been highly coordinated to create a space in which various functions, such as the navigation system, audio system, and driving mode selection, can be performed while allowing the driver to concentrate on driving.
The rear tiered horizontal forms, combined with a three-dimensional structure, are uncomplicated yet emphasize the strong stance and a powerful athleticism. Slender combination lamps, an aerodynamic “shark fin” and a bold LEXUS emblem add to the LF-Z Electrified’s ultra-modern, simplistic flair.
Proprietary motors at each axle revolutionize how drivers connect with the road. By instantly directing power to individual wheels as needed, Direct4 technology helps drivers maintain control under all conditions.
The two motors can also dynamically switch between front, rear and all-wheel drive for unparalleled stability while accelerating and cornering.
The traditional steering mechanism is replaced with advanced technology that increases steering precision to match a driver’s intent. The fully electronic and speed-sensitive system filters out unwanted road vibration while still communicating what’s important for an exhilarating drive.
The Tazuna Cockpit is anchored by an all-new multi-screen interface. Evoking the shape and color of a black butterfly, these screens are laid out along natural sightlines. Drivers can also use touch or voice to control the new, streamlined interface.
