RZ's cockpit utilizes the concept of "Tazuna," the Japanese word for "rein," as its design inspiration. The communicative relationship between horse and rider, bonded by a rein, is analogous to driver and machine who find a deep connection via the cockpit's driver-oriented design. Steering wheel-mounted switches, head-up display, drive mode selector – each is mindfully placed and coordinated within the cockpit's layout to promote easy access and control, as well as enhanced concentration on the road.

DIRECT4 is an available all-wheel drive system whose key component is a high-output, high-torque eAxle. The eAxle is a compact unit consisting of a motor, gearing, and power electronics. RZ's DIRECT4 system has two eAxles, one up front and the other at the rear; each drives a wheel set. With DIRECT4 as the intelligent electronic linkage, the system accurately and constantly optimizes RZ's drive force, traction, and posture control in accordance with driving conditions and load carried by each wheel.
