Introducing the LF-Z Electrified, a concept battery electric vehicle (BEV) that incorporates driving performance, styling, and technologies envisioned for realization by 2025.
Dynamism, feel, and the connection established between driver and machine are intensified through the optimal placement of the battery and electric motors, as well as, among others, a new four-wheel driving force control technology known as “Direct4” that generates superior and highly flexible driving performance.
LEXUS STYLING EVOLVED
The LF-Z Electrified sets the tone for the future direction of Lexus styling, which aims for a simple and captivating shape rooted in strong proportions and a distinctive appearance.
This included evolving the iconic spindle grille into the overall body architecture, achieving a form of expression that is new yet undoubtedly Lexus.
THE "TAZUNA" COCKPIT
The cockpit was designed based on the new concept of "Tazuna", the Japanese word for “rein”. Inspired by the relationship between horse and rider, who communicate through a single rein, steering wheel-mounted switches and the vehicle’s head-up display have been highly coordinated to create a space in which various functions, such as the navigation system, audio system, and driving mode selection, can be performed while allowing the driver to concentrate on driving.
ULTRA-MODERNThe rear tiered horizontal forms, combined with a three-dimensional structure, are uncomplicated yet emphasize the strong stance and a powerful athleticism. Slender combination lamps, an aerodynamic “shark fin” and a bold LEXUS emblem add to the LF-Z Electrified’s ultra-modern, simplistic flair.
The LF-Z Electrified is the first Lexus to be built on our new all-electric platform. With a predicted 600 km range, this crossover can accelerate to 100 kph in just 3 seconds. Its all-new, all-electric powertrain not only vastly improves acceleration and power delivery compared to traditional cars, but also lowers its center of gravity for better handling.
Proprietary motors at each axle revolutionize how drivers connect with the road. By instantly directing power to individual wheels as needed, Direct4 technology helps drivers maintain control under all conditions.
The two motors can also dynamically switch between front, rear and all-wheel drive for unparalleled stability while accelerating and cornering.
The traditional steering mechanism is replaced with advanced technology that increases steering precision to match a driver’s intent.
The fully electronic and speed-sensitive system filters out unwanted road vibration while still communicating what’s important for an exhilarating drive.
Black Butterfly Multimedia Screens
The Tazuna Cockpit is anchored by an all-new multi-screen interface. Evoking the shape and color of a black butterfly, these screens are laid out along natural sightlines.
Drivers can also use touch or voice to control the new, streamlined interface.
A panoramic roof made of light-controlling glass invites the outside in.
With a touch of a button, the transparent roof can become opaque.
Lexus Driving Signature
Every innovation in the LF-Z Electrified can be traced back to the Lexus Driving Signature philosophy. It’s a belief that a vehicle is an extension of the driver’s intent–a machine built from a human-centric focus to create a seamless, unified system. By moving to an all-EV platform, the LF-Z Electrified becomes the purest interpretation of this philosophy. Direct4 and Steer-By-Wire revolutionize how driver and vehicle take to the road with confidence. This synergy is completed with intuitively placed controls for the driver in our reimagined Tazuna Cockpit.
Using deep learning and proprietary algorithms, our AI acts as a virtual assistant during your journey. Learning a driver’s habits and routines over time, the AI can suggest better routes and help control smart homes.
Using our own next-generation autonomous driving technology, Lexus Teammate partners with the driver to offer a more relaxing journey. Lexus Teammate will use a host of cutting-edge sensors, AI and built-in systems–such as Steer-By-Wire–to grant peace of mind to the driver.
By updating conventional handles, E-Latch offers a sleek vision of the future. Doors can unlatch with a push of a button rather than pulling a handle. Built-in safety technology also scans the environment for oncoming traffic, ensuring doors only open when it is safe to do so.
Digital Key reimagines vehicle access and convenience for the 21st century. You and other drivers you designate can use a smartphone to access the vehicle without a physical key, and you can also temporarily share access to the car with others.
Mark Levinson Sound
An all-new Mark Levinson sound system delivers directional sound to each occupant, allowing everyone a personal space. The system also has pre-designed soundscapes of quiet Zen gardens or bucolic streams to soothe and relax the driver.
Using the latest research in light therapy, embedded LEDs throughout the cabin can set any number of moods inside the cabin.
