The hoverboard is constructed from an insulated core, containing HTSLs (high temperature superconducting blocks). These are housed in cryostats - reservoirs of liquid nitrogen that cool the superconductors to -197°C.
The board is then placed above a track containing permanent magnets. When the board is cooled to its operating temperature the track’s magnetic flux lines are ‘pinned’ into place, maintaining the hover height of the board.
The Lexus hoverboard’s form is informed by the same design principles shared by all Lexus products, and is a balance of considered craft, premium materials and true technical innovation. Classic skateboarding influenced by the brand’s performance pedigree makes this project pure Lexus - exhilarating and inspiring.

FROM PAPER TO PRODUCTION
The journey began with the Lexus Sport Yacht concept. The exterior lines gave it an aerodynamic shape and aggressively iconic demeanor. The interior styling and detail took everything you’d expect from the luxury brand, and reimagined it for comfort at sea.
Lexus has partnered with master boat builders Marquis Yachts to produce a luxury yacht like no other. The LY 650 picks up where the Sport Yacht concept left off and elevates the design and craftsmanship to an entirely new level, creating the seaborne embodiment of the Lexus experience.
Seamlessly merging the subtle human touch of Lexus Takumi master craftsmen with the manufacturing ethos of Marquis Yachts artisans, the LY 650 is the most contemporary expression of the Lexus design language applied beyond the world of automobiles yet.
